The SOA (Society of Actuaries) Exam MLC Preparation Course is now available through UCF Test Prep. This review course is 28 contact hours in length and is designed to cover all pertinent materials for the SOA Exam MLC. The ACTEX Exam MLC Study Manual is required for this course. Course Content and Structure - 3.5-day seminar:
The general review of the exam materials will reinforce key concepts to improve understanding and organize related formulas into interacting structures. The goal is to reduce the amount of formulas that needs to be memorized to minimal amount and to be able to capture the big picture. The review of exam problems targets in improving test spot identification and problem solving skills. There will be session where the instructor can answer both group and individual questions. And professor can be reached through email before and after the seminar for extra help.
We shall go through the ACTEX material during the first three days of lecture. The last half day is reserved for a mock test of the practice exam in the ACTEX manual and one hour discussion after the exam. (For that purpose, please leave the practice exam unopened until then.) |
About the Instructor:
Zhongxian Han, Ph.D., A.S.A (soon to be), (jerryhan@mail.ucf.edu) has industry experience with Nationwide Insurance and Motorists Insurance Group. He is now an assistant professor of Actuarial Science at the University of Central Florida’s Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate actuarial core courses including: Life Contingency, Theory of Interest, Risk Theory, Property & Casualty Insurance.
Dr. Han received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ohio State University in 2003, and became an Associate of the Society of Actuaries in January 2008. Professor Han has published several papers on loss reserving in property & casualty insurance and mortality models for the oldest population.
