An exam preparation seminar for SOA Exam FM/CAS Exam 2 is now available through UCF Test Prep. This review seminar is 2.5 days (20 contact hours) in length and is designed to cover all the material contained on the syllabus for this actuarial exam.
Course Content and Structure - 2.5-day seminar:
The first 1.5 days will cover the interest theory portion of the syllabus. The next 0.5 days will cover the financial economics portion of the syllabus. The final 0.5 days will be a comprehensive problem solving session over the entire syllabus, together with any carryover topics from the first two days. The seminar will consist of approximately 1/3 lecture and 2/3 problem solving. Illustrative problems will be worked after each segment of lecture with additional problems worked at the end. About the Instructor:
Mr. Kellison, FSA, MAAA, EA is a retired Senior Vice President from the Institutional Services Division of American General Retirement Services in Houston, Texas. He currently is serving as a Visiting Professor in Actuarial Science at the University of Central Florida, has extensive teaching experience and also focuses on actuarial consulting. During his career he has also been Director of the Actuarial Science Program at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, and Chair of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University. He has taught actuarial seminars for over ten years. He also is the author of The Theory of Interest,a well-known reference covering material on the current syllabus for SOA/CAS Course FM/2. He is currently a Past President of the Society of Actuaries and is a past Executive Director of the American Academy of Actuaries.

 The seminar instructor plans to use The Theory of Interest (Third Edition), by S. G. Kellison to be published early in 2008 for the interest theory portion of the syllabus. The reference for the financial economics portion of the syllabus will be Derivatives Markets (Second Edition), by R. L. McDonald. The ACTEX Study Manual for the FM exam is not required for this seminar, but may also be useful. Attendees are expected to bring their textbooks and other study materials to the seminar.
